Marketing Tip #1: The Importance of Website Content
These days everyone has a website, but it's more than just fashionable - it's downright necessary to a successful business.
The problem with websites (darnit!) is that in order for websites to be effective, they MUST be kept chock-full of relevant and fresh content. Good quality content can make the difference between people finding and using your business, or passing you by.
Where Can You Get Content?
If you have a talent for writing, you can supply your own content. But even if you do have an itchy keyboard finger, chances are, you're not going to have the time to constantly be adding new content.
Luckily, you have several other options:
1. Professional Articles - there are several websites that you can "farm" for content. Its all perfectly legal - it's what they are there for! Some sites require a subscription fee, while others are free. Do you belong to a trade or professional association? Very often, these membership societies provide lots of free and relevant content for you to use. Just ask!
2. Freelance Writer - now, we're not blowing our own horns here, but we've been known to put out some killer web content. Even if you don't hire us, we have many writer-colleagues out there who are ready to help you keep your website filled with interesting content, the kind that keeps people coming back for more.
Word to the wise: Don't pilfer content off of other people's websites without their permission. It happens all the time...but it's just not cool.
Once you have your website filled with quality content, you'll see that visitor meter spike! But remember, good content is not just attention grabbing, but persuasive and provoking. It's great if peole find you and visit, but if they don't stick around, it won't mean much for your business.
